OKC State Capitol Tunnels
The State Capitol Complex of Oklahoma stands as a symbol of the self-reliance of the people of this great state. The complex consists of numerous buildings that serve as the seat of government for the citizens. To facilitate cooperation between state agencies, and protect the state employees from Oklahoma’s unpredictable weather, the state legislature authorized the construction of multiple underground pedestrian access tunnels between facilities in the 1960s.
Unfortunately, the effectiveness of the tunnel waterproofing has deteriorated over time. When tunnels flooded in 2015, the state legislature had to act, appropriating $19,000,000 in 2022 to address Phase I of the tunnel repairs.
Miles Architecture, in partnership with Kirkpatrick Program Management, was selected by the State of Oklahoma as Design-Build Advisor to support the Office of Management Enterprise Services (OMES) in this ambitious and complex endeavor. Kirkpatrick Program management serves as Executive Program Manager and provides leadership to the Advisor team.
